Creating a headlight/satellite.?

So for math i have to create a satellite, actually its a dish that i have to line with aluminum foil, it has a focal point and at the focal point the light is refracted (from a LED light that is focused on it) however my teacher didn't explain to me as to what to use to refract the light. What object could i use to refract the light off of, resulting in splitting of the light into many rays and reflecting of the aluminum foil and creating a headlight effect. Do you know any websites where there would be a similar idea and/or videos? Thanks for any help.
