If i plug this cable into my laptop and tv will the sound come out the tv and not the laptop?

Yeah ... if u plug the jack to headset on ur laptop side the sound will go to ur TV. Just think. If ur TV have a RCA input, as i said a pair yellow and red ... all will be fine :)
